I have always wanted to hear this version but the radio stations went ape over the Diana Ross version. Nice, very nice. NEVER got the respect or airplay it deserved.

I believe this was the original version. I preferred this version because of the many voices which game the song more of a vocal dynamic and wider range. The late Danny Beard with his high vocal scream killed it. The congas are rocking. Diana's version cannot come anywhere close to this. Just my opinion. Peace.

There is a UK promo 45 which was issued to DJ's of Diana talking about the rush release of the Fifth Dimension version.
It was somewhat harsh on the Fifth Dimension, referring to days gone by when "they" (whoever that might be) used to "cheat". The version of "Come See About Me" by Nella Dodds comes to mind.

Was always curious what this version sounded like - and it's good - but Miss Ross' version is better - JMO.

This version was supposed to be their disco song but Motown rushed released Dianas' version first, i heard that this was recorded way before Motowns version. Not great but McCoo could have song it better. disco joe

@jazzscherzo In fact, Ms. Mc Coo and husband Billy had already left the band. This song is sung by Florence LaRue.
