Having passed through life experiencing un-fulfillment in varying degrees plus three major life changes within three consecutive months of 2009, including starting a university degree, the feeling of empty space that manifested itself in my heart has gradually and thankfully subsided. During this transformation and development of self I decided to be a life model to gain confidence and also as a way of networking with fellow artists. Through this practice I became more self-aware of my surroundings, others, my body and myself. Therefore it was a natural development within my artwork to use myself as the source, creating art to connect with the viewer and highlighting the many sharing commonalities, both physical and psychological that inform the human condition. Although my practice is undeniably personal it is this personal story that makes my work, human, poignant and vital. The dualities of differences that make a person individually unique also address common similarities we all share in being human at this particular time.
