-Update 2-
I tried to go and make tweaks to the audio of my more recent reel, but apparently it is a video issue, that is causing it not to be listed. To resolve this I am throwing up my hands, and linking to the version that has been up and running with no issue for quite some time.
If you are interested in seeing an updated version of my reel feel free to follow this link.

-Update-
Apparently I am getting a lot of traffic due to YouTube featuring this vid on a list somewhere, so I am quite amazed and glad for the response. I do have a slightly newer version of this reel uploaded as well, if you want to check it out.

This is my updated Show Reel, showcasing some of the shots that I have been lucky enough to have worked on recently and in the past.

Look FX, was kind enough to provide me with some of the breakdowns that were put together for studio use, that happened to also be on shots that I had worked on, So I am now able to have breakdowns of some of my professional shots.

My most recent project to complete, that has footage that I am able to show from, was work on the final season of Lost, where among other things I worked on most of the Smoke Monster shots throughout the season.

Airing at the same time, was work I had contributed to the HBO mini-series The Pacific (which went on to win the VFX Emmy).

While recently I have been working in the fast paced Episodic Television arena, I have also worked on the more traditional long form Features, included are hightlights of some of the work I did for The Mummy 3 & The Golden Compass (which also went on to be honored with the VFX Oscar)

  • Hi Seth, did you used Nuke or Apple Shake on these projects?

  • @martinboumans Most of this work was done in either a proprietary comp program or Shake, I have since moved over to using Nuke for my work.

  • @invertedstyles Sorry for the long delay in reply, this may be a terminology issue, when I hear "Stock Footage" I think of things that you already have on the shelf, or things you got to a repository site and purchase specifically to use. All the explosions were filmed on location, by the crews that shot everything else, so not really stock, but definitely not CG.

  • @sethbrower ummm I think @SignatureEdit comment was pretty legit and you did use stock explosion footage because you said it yourself "practical blast shot for the project" unless you guys at scoundrel fx made CG particle base explosions either way its just an alpha channel. You guys using Nuke for post?

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • the smoke monster in the final season looked fantastic, great volumetric particles! Looked amazing!

  • @SignatureEdit If I recall, none of it was actual stock footage, it was a large variety off explosions and practical blasts shot for the project. Just wasn't safe to do it with all the cast and extras running next to it.

  • @sethbrower The explosions at 1:42 looked very realistic but where does the stock footage you use for them come from?

  • Ahh, the joy of the clichéd comments on Youtube, the reason I debated posting on Youtube at all.

I had been going to respond to your first question, but I have been quite busy, because this is not a "please hire me" demo reel currently, but "this is what I've been up to" and as such have been quite busy actually making new things.

But as much as I hate to reward rudeness, off the top of my head I can't recall the song, but it's an acoustic track by the lovely family group The Corrs.
