I picked up a used DownMat 9 DLX cheap off ebay and tried using it in my vango chair kit, it worked but you needed to let out a lot of air. Saw this video and it totally convinced me to go get the matching chair kit. It's 200g heavier but for what you get extra its a no brainer. Being able to fold up without taking it out of the cover is the best bit for me.

I can imagine that sitting on the down mats would add pressure on the laminates and they would pop causing lumps in the mat. Not inflating to full capacity should help this, but I'm still skeptical. What is Exped's warranty policy on returns for bursted laminates?

@melbelleluke: The mats are designed to hold up to the pressure and many, many days of use in Chair Kits over the years has shown the combination to be durable over time. UL mats carry a 2-year warranty and all others a 5-year warranty. Please feel free to give us a call at 866.326.4586 if we can help you further. Cheers!

Wonderful kit!
What happens when you put a M or S Mat into a L Chair kit? I have a Down Mat 9 DLX. But am thinking about getting a SynMat UL M or S as a less bulky alternative when it ain't to cold... would be neat to be able to use the chair kit for both mats...

@remosito - Medium and Small mats are not as wide, so the fit of the mats in a Large chair kit will be sloppy side-to-side. That lateral tension is what supports the back. Sorry, but it won't work very well. Thanks for the question!
