I agree with gimpy. If you want to preserve valuable your comic books put it in a 4 mil mylar with an acid free thick white backboard. Then put it in plastic comic book storage box and place it in a dry dark room in your basement or in a closet. Use CGC if you're visiting a comic convention and you're getting your comic book signed by an artist or writer with a CGC rep witnessing the signature. The CGC yellow label is good enough proof that the signature is real.

I've heard all these arguments before, and I'll tell you what I told all of them... You are correct. However, it's a different collecting market. I'm part of both, I buy rare CGC books and rare raw books. It's a nice balance.
