The RSCA has been using the Animal Welfare Act 2008 to prosecute vulnerable pet owners and businesses. Some suspect that as the cases are often insubstantial and target those who cannot afford to plead 'not guilty' the society is more interested in the headlines than animal welfare. David Cavill describes a typical case

  • Agreed for those that know something of the background but for the others some explanation might be helpful

  • Thanks, Terri. The RSPCA are beginning to define hypocrisy! The full story is in this week's Our Dogs

  • You must clearly be perfect (although the name says it all, I suspect) , never having made a typing error and have nothing else to do but cross other people's Ts and dot their Is. Is this really all the comment you can make about the quite appalling behaviour of some sections of the RSPCA? Get a life my friend

  • @jakeashtonknight Er, Jake/YOU, himself insists (on his /your website) you phone the RSPCA if you dont live in Littlehampton.

  • Please don't phone the RSPCA to report animal cruelty. 164 animals a day are unnecessarily killed. If you want to report cruelty, please call Jake on 07414 008719. He knows how to proceed with animal welfare cases with the local authority. Thank you. UK only.

  • When I appear in Court it as an 'expert witness'. My duty is to the Court and I am not on the 'side' of either party. I am afraid your comment only shows that you have been duped by RSPCA publicty. The RSPCA do a lot of good work incidentally and I have always acknowledged that. The problem is that their prosecutions are often misguided and their conculsions about pedigree dogs is misguided, distorted and innaccurate. Much is being done to improve the welfare of pedigree dogs.

  • You are an animal breeder in direct conflict (your other video on dog breeding also criticies the RSPCA) with the RSPCA, regarding dangerous inbreeding in order to COSMETICALLY improve animals (the RSPCA no longer supports Crufts because of this) often with complete disregard for proven health issues,so that is your motivation for this video, also if you would have had anything of value in your "alledged" court appearance your friend wouldn't have been prosecuted.

  • No on both counts. I have worked with the RSPCA and some aspects of the organisation are excellent. - others are not

  • Someone else with a hidden agenda, you bin investigated by them or are you part of the fox hunting brigade?
