Tour - Virtual Ability Island

Alice Krueger was a technical writer and editor for a national educational research firm based in New Hampshire. Her avatar's name is Gentle Heron. She worked from her home for the Denver office, as she has multiple sclerosis. Now she is on SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance).

Alice has a connection to the Cedar Rapids area. She began her teaching career in the Amana Colonies where she was the entire high school science department. She has both attended and given teacher workshops at Kirkwood on a variety of topics, including playing the recorder and teaching about death and dying.

In Second Life, Alice is a co-founder of the Virtual Ability community, a group that supports people with disabilities. She is also president of the Board of Virtual Ability, Inc., a Colorado non-profit that supports Virtual Ability's work in Second Life.

Virtual Ability, Inc. is a group of people who are concerned with disability support. Virtual Ability Island is a location in Second Life that features an orientation center accessible to people with chronic illness or disabilities.
