Marriage Is A Private Affair * Lana Turner & Jimmy Hawkins *

This is a clip from The 1944 MGM Movie "MARRIAGE IS A PRIVATE AFFAIR" Starring Lana Turner. Jimmy Hawkins played Lana's 2 year old son Tommy.(Billy Chapin played this character earlier in the film) This was Jimmy's second MGM film. Here's how the story goes. He was playing Jessica Tandy's son in The Fred Zimmerman, Spencer Tracy movie "The Seventh Cross" when the assistant director told Jimmy's Mom, Bette, that they were looking for a kid to play Lana's son in a movie shooting on the stage next to us. When we have a break I'll take you over there. Soon Jimmy was doing his 2nd film with MGM's biggest female star. As a a child actor he was most notable know as Tommy Bailey in It's A Wonderful Life"(1946) He played TAGG OAKLEY in the "ANNIE OAKLEY" series ('53-'58) Jimmy was a regular on The Donna Reed Show (Mary, Shelley Fabares boyfriend, Scotty...'58-'66). He also was on The Ozzie & Harriet series for 4 seasons and played Elvis Presley's sidekick in 2 MGM Musicals "Girl Happy" and "Spinout". He later became a Motion Picture and TV Producer and Author of 5 books on It's A Wonderful Life.
