Teacup stingray: Who doesn't like stingrays? And who doesn't think they look like some weird but cool childhood dream?
This saucer shaped fish is one of the most intriguing fish you can EVER buy. Stingrays are on the difficult side to feed. They can't go up to the top and "skim" like the other fish do. So keep frozen bloodworms and bits of fish in your fridge(I've actually heard that they will eat strips of leftover salmon and other meats).
Keep them in aquariums above 125 gallons! These fish may not look like it, but they require a bit of swimming room.
These creatures are very shy and peaceful. I've seen some rays been completely shredded by arrowanas. Keep them with less belligerent tankmates.
Plus, make sure to cover the heaters with some kind of guard. Their tender skin will get easily scarred by a heater (as you can see on the right side of this ray).
Of course, this article could not be complete without me mentioning the stingrays "stinging" capabilities.
As shown with the odd and rare case of Steve Irwin (may you rest in peace Steve), stingrays can be deadly. Note that instances of this are VERY rare. You have a greater chance of dying from falling out of bed than you do of getting fatally stung.
The main danger for aquarist comes in "petting" the fish (petting exhibits at aquariums encourage this dangerous behavior) and hand feeding the fish. Fish are NOT a creature you should ever come in contact with, much less play with.
If you get stung, apply immediate pressure, and rinse the wound in warm of water as you can stand!!! Then call 911. (Best not to take me word for word, take care to research and put an emergency instruction paper next to the fish tank)
There are two types of stings. Dry stings, and wet stings. No, this doesn't have anything to do with being in and out of the water.
Dry stings is where the stinger breaks off in your hand, and end of story. Done. Nothing else.
Wet stings are more dangerous. This is where the stinger breaks of in your hand, but delivers a potetially deadly injection of venom.
Stingrays are for experienced aquarists only!

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to send me a message. I'll be happy to reply.
(LFS means local fish store. These aren't my fish or tanks)
The ray should be kept in a 180 gallon plus.. and your no experienced fish keeper from what your saying about the fish.

@eimhing7 I've talked with the people at the pet store and this is the smallest space that they recommend. The minimum space for a sting ray a contentious issue, and I've heard different things from different sources. However I will revise the lower limit to 125 gallons -> 180 gallons is a tad on the large size.
Also, keep in mind that these reviews are works in progress and not meant to supplant real research about the fish.

The stingray is not suppose to be with any type of cichlid or aggressive fish.

That is generally a correct statement, however there are a few exceptions. Best to stay on the safe side when your prized fish are involved :)
