@bigbull2000 I was waiting for it to cleverly seize and crack shellfish on its exposed underparts.
-
The otter floats just as good upside down as rightside up. tough plane , but not immune to stupid mistakes.

@OperationXairsoft Thank you sir, lots more coming up in a few weeks..... the biggest hassle is converting .flv to something MovieMaker will accept, like .avi, mpg, wmv... and it DOES accept animated .Gifs! . But I just got another vid format-converter I'm dying to try out.
-
Thats an awesome vid

@equarg They are much the same, I think same publisher, just more of the same. Like sequels. Check around on Amazon. You know, the military actually did a study on crashing pilot's last words, and they were 90% a kinda resigned- not scared- "Awww, sh*t!" But remember what Bob Hoover said after a non-NOTAMed guy wire took 3 feet off his P-51's port wing - "Nobody said I had to crash!" And he didn't.
-
@equarg Good deal! Start with your ordinary flat-4's and 6-cylinder Lycomings and Continentals- Rotax is getting REAL big now, and THEN you'll find yourself borescoping and UV-testing hot-section turbine blades for Big Iron. Do you know how MUCH a teardown on a bizjet turbine COSTS? And only one good "hot start" can make it necessary! Even starting up with the wind blowing up the tail can cause a hot start! You're NOT a jet pilot unless your eyes are glued to the turbine temps during start!

I am applying to SCC in Spokane...they have like 15 different aircraft...and I am starting with "simpler planes" like Turbo Props, Cessna's, and experimental aircraft. I am diving into and unknown world here. But if I can excel, I want to work on jets...my dream job would be to work for the NTSB. But I always did like to work on things. I was having a quarter life crisis...I needed to find something I loved. BTW...what are the titles of your two black box books?, I want to other one!
-
@equarg Heh... I have BOTH Black Box books. Actually you can, with some finesse, land on water in an amphib, then taxi to a boat-launching ramp, drop the gear at the last second, then roar up the ramp with water draining from your floats. Look at the little water rudders, they can take that... Notice how the front gear extends out high and forward, so as not to take in too much water? Of course, THIS guy.... FAIL! He coulda been OK UNTIL he dipped that port high front gear door-

@equarg You'll make a LOT more as an A&P mechanic than as a pilot these days.. just pick a GOOD school. Some have these big come-ons, promise to help you get a job- and when you show up at the hangar, there's ONE run-out burned-up damaged Lycoming 6 on the stand.. for 20 students. Tour their facilities first. Ask around- the old-timers know. Embry-Riddle is King, but expensive. WITHOUT YOU, WE DON'T FLY! A grounded aircraft costs LOTSA money! Affecting a man's LIFE with my crashvids! YIP!
-
I also just joined the EAA (experimental aircraft association) and will ask some one their if they know what happens when the above happens to a water plane......and smile when I ask it........
I always was facinated with plane disasters...now I want to be the one to fix them..( or join the NTSB..one of the two)
I you want to read a good book, read BEYOND THE BLACK BOX: the anatomy of a plane crash...good read...take notes! (can find on amazon)
-
Yea!!!!! Crashman 2 is not dead!!!! ( no uploads in a long time).....you were the one who made me decide to become an airplane mechanic....thanks for helping me get out of my quarter life crisis...I am going to school this fall!!!!
That Looked Expensive,,, Where did this take place ?
BigWheelHawaii 1 week ago
@BigWheelHawaii Perhaps in the Land of the Non-Dzus Ribbets. Check the A/C Reg.# and for nearby signs of Biscuit Decay. The sheer GALL of an ATP somersaulting this A/C on an apparently multiple-mode-loggable scheduled landing should provide a clue. (How WOULD you log that one? "Full Stop" and "Incident" certainly apply...) I believe the US Navy had been there before, one memorable day- place had become a bit uptight, so we loosened up the dusty wine cellars with the BB TEXAS.

I believe his name was Wilhelm, NOT William, Tell.
kenjohan 2 weeks ago
@kenjohan Fascinating! Can you please provide us with more of his name's accurate Helvetian taxonomy, or perhaps the existence of some ALLEGEDLY questionable Teutonic Symphonic connection here? Truly, you have seized the dark inner meaning of this poorly made video!
