48Hours 08 - 'Pickle'

"The team leader introduced their film saying "Thank God no-one else had this idea." I wasn't quite sure what the hell he meant until the last three or so seconds, which were like a slap in the face (from either Dali or Mapplethorpe) and got a big laugh. The premise: three people work in a factory, one of whom dotes on the female of the three."

"If male sexuality can be likened to a football stadium, then the 48HOURS is its fetid locker room. I mean that as a compliment. From the bizarrely formal acting style, to the frightening shot of the looming naked guy, to the brilliant art direction -- the cinematography and the delightful production-line machine thing -- to the weirdly inept love story, this film is a surreal triumph. It also has the funniest surprise ending ever."
