  • I'm a rock N roller looking back at my roots that I used to laugh at (out of guilt and a need to move forward I suppose). Now I see a simplicity, courage and honesty that's all but forgotten in today's world. Thank you for posting this beautiful recording

  • wow, what a great old recording.....priceless. 5/5

  • that is amazing i had no idea that she even sang is that her playing guitar too?

  • Thanks lilymoons for posting this good one - the first record by Jimmie's widow Carrie Rodgers - "We Miss Him When Evening Shadows Fall"; Bluebird B-6698 . This poignant tune was written by Carrie's sister Elsie McWilliams who also wrote many of Jimmie's hits. It was recorded in San Antonio at the old Texas Hotel. Another cool fact, that's Ernest Tubb accompanying Carrie on Jimmie's old Martin guitar.. so that also makes this Ernest Tubb's first record!

  • Mmm. What a story...warmth, depth and texture that's hard to find. Thank you Lilly for sharing.
