I saw Him open for Mayer in Wisconsin...I was SO impressed and was hooked instantly. Now for Colby She is talented, Just not my cup of tea. He really complimented Mayer.

To me, Brett is our generation's iteration of Bob Dylan.
I never heard of him until after his song 'I'll Come Running" brought me up out of a suicidal state of mind.
Even then, while thriving on that one song I never knew who he was, but that one song kept making me feel better and better about life.
Then, the other day he was playing in studio at WERS in Boston, next door to me. I ran down to see who this guy was. Waited outside until he came out and told him this story.

etc.
How can you say that this is a weakness, the lyrics to those are amazing. It might not be your taste and all, but saying that his songwriting (his main selling point) is his weakness is pretty odd.
