During the rehearsals for Frederica von Stade's Amazing Gala Celebration in San Francisco, a most serious, and, eh hem, obviously somber atmosphere prevailed as we all tried extremely hard to bring our very best for this momentous occasion. As you can see, my efforts were thwarted as the dancing trio of (yes, this will not be a typo) Dame Kiri "I have lungs of steel" Te Kanawa, Flicka "I'm so happy I'm not singing this anymore" von Stade, and Jake "How long does this piece go on?" Heggie dance their tails off. There was not a dry eye in the house. But do be warned - you will never be able to hear this aria again without this vision in head!

As remarkable as that all is, do keep your eye on Dame Kiri's puppy who did not quite know what to make of it all - talk about a scene stealer!

Fabulous videography by the de-lovely Susan Graham.

Seriously. My life will never be the same.

  • This is hilarious!!! =-)

  • In the Cenerentola production in our city the singers do actually dance. :D

  • @jhezser71 I mean, that's the only excuse I see... so let's go with that.

  • ahahahahahahahahahahhahahaha

  • Ah, I love this. Reminds me of our choir rehearsals back in the day when I wasn't as interested in photography over music. We'd be trying our best to make the person or people performing laugh. Usually it was tenors and basses trying to make the sopranoes laugh while the poor conductor was trying to maintain order. Gotta get all of that out before the concert. Hope that you'll be coming up to perform in Vancouver one of these days. Joyce.

  • @JaimieAppleton Let's give them the benefit of the doubt: they were so drunken with happiness after watching the video that they pressed the "dislike" button by mistake! :)

  • Omg this is amazing! Ahaha! How did you manage to keep singing with all the distractions going on?!

  • jajajajaja the dog thinks the human beings are crazy, jajajajaja great,
