From 1969's 'Soul Bag' on the CBS label, Mongo Santamaria's BADASS cover of James Brown's "Cold Sweat," featuring solos by the master himself on congas, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie tackling those wild drum breaks, and Hubert Laws WAILIN' it out on tenor sax. It's incredible how he squeezes the exact sound of JB's heated scream out of that horn. Track arranged by the great Marty Sheller, and other personnel includes Rodgers Grant (piano), Victor Venegas (bass), Mauricio Smith and Sonny Fortune (saxophones), Louis Gasca, trumpet, "Chihuahua" and Ray Maldonado (percussion), and Stephen Berrios (timbales).

  • @VRXJudge Yezzir, my favorite song from RJD2, the end is kinda sketchy, but it makes you wanna keep the song on repeat. Samtamaria is great music, every good artist has roots, and this is a good one to have.

  • Just can not get more right on than this.
