@rituparna09 What I basically disliked in the comment was making direct comparison with other artists. If this is the right way of criticising a performance or an artist, the same thing would happen when we listen to Tejen, Alam, Abhishek, Aaman or anyone else. If we listen to Purbayan (Sitar), should we pass a remark whether Budhaditya or Kushal is better than him ?
Secondly, by using the word 'nagma', I never meant it was a Tabla solo accompanied with Sarod. Just this section was briefed.
@meghchau1 well, from the bandish itself you can identify the tonal quality and maturity of an artiste, especially if you are involved with indian classical music since a long time, as I am.... and you're right, this sarod player is not playing vilambit teental bandish in this clip............ but providing nagma to the tabla, instead of harmonium :)
@rituparna09 Listening to this section how could you compare ? In this section he (Ranajit) is just providing mukhra-wise support to the Tabla player. Here Ranajit is playing just the nagma.
Secondly, here we haven't come to compare one artist with another. Some direct comment on this rendition of Hemant ......... about its quality or something else is expected (rather than who is better than whom).
very average performance...... nothing special at all. Now-a-days we are listening much better sarod players like Tejendra Narayan, Alam khan, Abhisek Lahiri, Aaman/ Aayan Ali Khan etc.......
