Its a stereotype because its so common. There are always exceptions - as even you say *most of* them are honest people... but there's plenty of bad apples to spoil it for them all.

Iv'e been in this trade 30 + years and apart from a few exceptions the rule is "Fuck them before they fuck you"

I sold cars for years. Most of my deals were pretty honest. Most of my co workers were pretty honest. This is a horrible stereotype. I generally made 300-500$ per car I sold. That meant that the dealership made 1100$. That is about a 4% markup. That is about the same as a Gallon milk at wal mart.

This movie is great! It's the stereotype we're all trying to shake, but its so close to the truth. With the same old, "best price?", "im paying cash", "i've seen one cheaper/lower kilometres/better down the road", etc its understandable salespeople can be this ruthless. I cant wait until the day the customer clues up a little bit more and uses some different negotiating tactics, its getting boring! Buyers are liars!
