Love the video!
Someone else asked blow but you didn't answer. How are you doing the automatic water changes? Is there a system you can buy or did you have to build it from scratch?

Very nice, very good looking fishes

Absolutely gorgeous! You have managed to create an environment which shows the fish of the amazon at their true potential. How good an aquarium is is not decided by the type of fish it but how close the aquarist is to showing any fish at it's true beauty and behavior.

are discus hard to care for?

THat's a cool tank!! You should put a black baground behind it though and it will make it look a lot better!!

Thanks! We've had the rams for a few years---they were wilds that we got when they were young.

Great video! Planning to add discus fish in my planted aquarium. What kind of discus do you have? And will they peck at my whisker shrimp thats like an inch big? Thanks!

Hi!
I don't remember the name of this color strain, actually. Some discus will definitely go after shrimp. This tank has red cherry shrimp in it (although they are often not visible), and they are far too fast for the discus to catch at this point. The Rams are the best shrimp hunters in this tank right now.

Keep in mind that for Discus, changing lots of water is really the key. This tank has 15 gals. (~30%) changed every day on an automatic system.
I think you want at least 50% per week as a baseline for water changes for Discus, even in a planted tank. That's why we automated our system---keeping this tank wouldn't really be possible otherwise. And "the more the better" is really true here, hence the 30% per day. Also, make sure you've done your reading, regarding ph, temp, etc.
Good luck!
