The Atheist Experience #607 (full episode)

(FULL EPISODE) From the archive: The Atheist Experience #607 of May 31, 2009, with Matt Dillahunty and Tracie Harris. This was the last show before the studio renovation in the summer of 2009. It was originally broadcast in the old 4:3 format, but this is an edited and re-titled 16:9 wide screen adaptation with new graphics and a better audio track, produced for this YouTube channel.

This episode contained a few memorable calls that became famous through video clips with titles like "God, the Mafia Boss," "Belief in God: Standards of Evidence" and "Ultimate Reality vs. Experienced Reality." Due to the limited duration of these older YouTube videos, such clips often had to be abbreviated or posted in segments, but now you can watch the entire 1½ hour show without interruptions.

Unfortunately this video had to be re-uploaded due to a copyright claim from WMG, resulting in the original video being blocked worldwide.

The problem with religious people using the argument that "Without God, criminals have nothing to keep them in check" is inherently bad. A core issue with religion is that it devalues life, because if you go by Bible standards, we're born and live for X-Y years, and then live on for eternity afterwards. Taking that away makes the value of your life and time suddenly much more important, and more people would realize that any amount of punishment is very severe.
