This test is to determine if you have a tight psoas or tight hip flexors. Failing this test puts you at risk for low back pain, hip pain, knee pain, plantar fascitis...even headaches.

  • @jmikejapan It's a good start but there's much more. Make sure to grab the free video series at my website while it's still up.

  • Thanks for explaning this old classic very well. In my experience this is not really a very accurate test for the Psoas.

  • when i did this test i was okay but i felt a sharp pain in the top of the contracted leg, right at the beginning of the front part, the pain shoots inwards towards the bone, any idea what that may be ?

  • By the way:This is also the BEST stretch to do for the hip flexors!

    Thank you for this!

  • This is a great demonstration. I am going to try it on my client tomorrow!

  • overall good. i generally have clients/patients scoot closer to the edge of the massage table before testing them to allow the hip to extend more and get a more accurate read. Also would be good acknowledge that the knee extending in the example that you illustrate could be due to a tight rectus femoris.
