This is one of the better songs by one of the most under rated singer/songwriters that I've ever had the pleasure to hear. B.W. was judged by so many for one song - MY MARIA. He was so much more deserving

Back in the mid 70's my best friend and I would go to see B W Stevenson at Liberty Hall in Houston. We heard him sing this one and many others while eating nachos and drinking tequila. My best friend then is still my best friend now and a few weeks ago we were playing golf, drinking tequila, eating nachos and singing Texas Morning in the golf cart. Funny how the best memories stick with us through the years.

@RBCrook perfect tunes for Colorado, used to love to play the eagles while driving through the mountains!

@mspuffsdad good grief, I remember Liberty Hall! Red beans and rice.....Buckwheat was a remarkable songwriter, this has always been a favorite of mine. Glad you two can still hang out, even in spirit

The photography in this is particularly enchanting. I've searched for this song for years and am glad to find it here accompanied by these beautiful images. What poignant lyrics these are.. There is much pathos in his voice.. The guitar and harmonica lend a sweet elegance to such perfection. Thank you for posting such a lovely tribute to one of the most cherished singer/song-writers ever.

Why is this gorgeous B.W. Stevenson song -- as well as his beautiful song, "Lonesome Song" so impossible to find anymore? "My Maria" pales in comparison to these great tunes, yet that one is ubiquitous, and these are, inexplicably, gone completely from the public domain. I have them on an old LP, but I have no way to play them anymore! Thank you for saving it on YouTube at least!

I had a tea with him while we watched Shawn Phillips at Rockefellers in Houston in 1988, just a couple of months before he went home. We talked about the music and he played earlier "Jump-start my heart" ,it was like a dopelganger hanging over him but I think he was at Peace with the guitar man. I loved his music.
