No Trains Here.
On a frigid November afternoon in 1992 I was overcome by the urge to make videos of planes coming and going at Denver's Stapleton Airport. So I did. Spent a couple of hours at three different locations. Have no idea what possessed me that day. Anyway, figured I might as well share the results in the off chance that anyone out there is interested in airplanes -- and we all know what Lucius Beebe thought of those things.

  • No problem. :)

  • @spiff8082ms Hey, thanks for the answer!

  • @pk33617 That steam is coming from oil refineries in Commerce City - just a mile or two northwest of

    where Stapelton used to be.

  • I very vividly remember watching the panes taxi across I-70 when I was a kid. My parents took me out to Stapleton the last night it was open to watch the last flight leave...an airplane-loving kid's dream! Thanks for posting!

  • oh god, this is such a cool video, actually that bridge the dc-10 is taxiing has been demolished just this week, very sad... At least the tower is still there for now, I have no idea what is the plan about the tower which is the sole reminder of this once very busy airport.

  • Thanks for uploading this! I remember my parents taking my brother and I out to that road to watch the planes land at night in the '80s. This was back before hush and noise kits were around, so it was pretty loud when the old DC9 and 727 would come screaming over, even at low power. I guess that stuck with me as I'm now an airline pilot!

  • thank you for uploading this video! i have fond memories of driving out to that road with my now deceased father and seeing the planes land at Stapleton.

It just goes to show how things have changed that if you filmed planes landing today, you could get a "talking to" by the police and put on the no-fly list!

  • I've never had the opportunity to go to Denver, but i enjoyed this and another stapleton video...looked like an interesting airfield to observe!

What is all that steam coming from in the video? is that a power plant or something behind the runways?

  • OMG I REMEMBER MY DAD TAKING ME TO SEE THE AIRPLANES THERE,ALSO REMEMBER THOSE TUNNELS ON I70 MAN THANKS FOR SHARING THIS VIDEO

  • This is great. Really miss this place. To bad it's almost all gone.
