I wish it was as simple as you seem to think it is. If getting out of the state that true clinical depression gets you in was simply a matter of will life would be so much easier for many people.

You're not alone in your opinion; a reknowned doctor called Louis Walpole held the same view until, that is he suffered the conditionhimself...

Try to be compassionate although clearly from your comments that doesn't come naturally.

  • @ticketyboooo I'm sorry to hear that. But even here in the US, stigma is still prevalent. We may be relatively tolerant of mental illness, but we too have a problem with stigma. I think people need to stop being judgmental towards victims of mental illness - not just depression, but anxiety disorders and personality disorders as well. I am an American who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder (at least I think I do, I have never been diagnosed). Good luck chap!

  • I wish I lived in the US. In the backward UK I was disciplined at work for time off due to clinical depression and lost my job. Many people now avoid me and life is fairly meaningless. I think in matters of the mind America is way ahead.

  • @cookieholderbach ouch? I'm aware that such opinions look foolish to those who accept blindly whatever doctors tell them. You suffer because of yourself, but you would prefer to give your suffering the name of depression thus freeing yourself of responsibility.

  • Thanks for this video. I suffer with Bi-Polar disorder. Depression is an illness just like any other illness. I shouldn't have to write it on my forehead to get people to understand how easy it is to die from this if they aren't treated. Friend me on facebook, I'm always willing to make a new friend who really understands this illness. cookie holderbach

  • @Aniota125 I have pointed out that psychiatry "treats" depression with chemicals, although they still haven't proven that depression is a biological disease. I don't have to have a degree in medicine to point this out. I believe psychiatry needs correction from without. Their ideas are not so hard to understand that you have to become one of them in order to criticize them.

  • @winstono75

At this point you realize your dealing with an idiot, and its best to back off... Where do you get these theories? lol.

  • @notabrat30 Those who go to medical school are indoctrinated into the erroneous beliefs, so they are the ones who understand it the least.

  • So who are you @winstono75? Where did you go to medical school? How many degrees in medicine do you have? If you're so confident about depression not being a physical illness, why don't you do something about it instead of writing stupid comments? You're so full of it.
