Kevin Rudd slams radio 'rape' segmen 2DAYFM

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has slammed the 2Day FM segment which resulted in a 14-year-old girl revealing live on radio she had been raped as a 12-year-old.

The segment, which involved a mother and radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O grilling the girl over her sexual experiences while she was hooked up to a lie detector, has angered Australians.

However, despite his obvious disgust, Mr Rudd said he will not intervene in 2Day FM management's handling of the case.

"This is really off, it's wrong - it shouldn't be done," Mr Rudd told 3AW. "This is a young girl and I am - as I think most Australians are - really distressed at the way in which this young person has been treated."

"It is entirely right for the program presenters to apologise but what happens beyond that is a matter for the company."
