A special pageant called "Mangeant" was held on Friday, March 28th at the Elm Street School in East Machias to raise funds for a new playground. The program was successful in two ways.....one it raised $1,000 towards the goal and two.....people were out having an excellent time and overcoming a long winter where many in Eastern Maine are presently suffering from "Snow Fatigue".
The Pageant started with the song "Calendar Girl" where contestants came out and were introduced by the month. A "Talent" portion of the show was also held.
Contestants also were in a swimsuit competition. Wait it isn't what you think....either watch the video at www.SunriseCounty.com or read and see many photos at www.SunriseCounty.com and download issue Vol 31, No 36 for more.
Songs sung by the contestants include: "I Am Woman", "I'm A Lumberjack And I Am OK", "Mustang Sally", "Stand By Your Man" were among the few.
Of course there was a question and answer period of the "Mangeant".
Remember, this was all in good fun and raised much needed funds for the Elm Street School Playground Fund. Officials indicated over $1,000 was made during this fun night.
Remember, you read it first for 31 years in County WIde Newspaper and now you can SEE and HEAR it first on County Wide TV News. Also at www.SunriseCounty.com
