http://www.einstein.yu.edu - Cases of pertussis (whooping cough) have been rising dramatically in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, resulting in over 18,000 cases and 9 infants deaths in the first 6 months of 2012. Pediatrician Nathan Litman, M.D., and obstetrician-gynecologist Siobhan Dolan, M.D., both Albert Einstein College of Medicine faculty members and Montefiore Medical Center physicians, explain how to safeguard against this highly contagious but preventable disease.
