A Bergman film in Turkish... why not. ;p
This undoubtedly is one of the absolute jewels of 20th century cinematography. The old professor's failed exam, the confrontation with his dead wife, the sense of his own approaching death, the realisation of an egoistical life - all those themes complement each other to this unforgettable film.

There is some forgiveness and redemption at the end of Shakespeare's play The Winter's Tale, I believe. it is one of his last plays, so maybe he had mellowed just a bit. I agree with you that we are all lucky to have Bergman's brilliant work that shimmers with life. Bergman can never truly be imitated or replaced. Let's hope and pray no one tries.

Ingmar Bergman is as good as Shakespeare - everything is in there -even more (as Wild Strawberriesshows, ...a film about redemption: where past mistakes can be replaced by love - that's not in any Shakespeare play) and it is all entertaining; not just 'the Northern European gloom' he is known for. Just pure genius and we should thank our lucky stars that we were alive at the same time as this. OK, that's a bit heavy duty ... but watch Mr. B's fillms and you'll see

This is such a special movie. They don't make them like this anymore--now they're too concerned with explosions, sex, and plots that have been done a thousand times already.

Helt otroligt! Incredible! How is it possible for one man to be able to always be so precise and to the point; find the exact words for every feeling and emotion...Thanks Ingmar!
This is my favorite scene of the movie, I'd love to see it with an English translation. My Turkish is a little rusty.
