Armed Clerk Foils Christmas Robbery

On Christmas Day 2007, Lawrence Davis burst into a convenience store and attacked the clerk on duty with a knife. The clerk pulled his licensed handgun and fired shots at the assailant, forcing him to flee the store. The suspect was later apprehended and hospitalized for his wounds. Police ruled the shooting was justified, and the clerk did not face any charges. The clerk, however, lost his handgun license in a subsequent incident of unprovoked brandishing of his weapon.

Just because the bad guy is running from you doesn't mean he's no longer a threat. That bad guy could get out to the parking lot, turn around, and start blasting at the store. That's why armed citizens are instructed to "shoot to stop the threat". You aren't shooting to murder, shooting to scare, shooting to injure, or shooting to drop the person. You are shooting simply to stop the threat, nothing more, nothing less.

Wish the clerk had killed the SOB. Should be a law that store owners allow clerks to carry a gun OR provide them with a bulletproof, safe room.

And yes, it is amazing how quickly these robbers can jump even the highest counter. Hundreds have been murdered when several solutions are at hand..very sad.
