JOANNA Lumley hosted a special Tickets for Troops event at the Royal Opera House on Valentines Day, 14th Feb 2010.
She joined Johnson Beharry, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his courage in Iraq and Captain Ed Addington, of 2 Rifles, who was severely injured in Afghanistan. Over 2000 members of the Armed Forces attended the event at London's Royal Opera House.
They were accompanied by two Troopers of the Household Cavalry, Craig Glendenning and JP Van-Der-Walt. A number of other Tickets for Troops Patrons, Advisory Board & Board members were present including Lord Marland, Jonathan Mervis, Stuart Higgins, Robert Lawrence MC, Nick Allott and Kevin Godlington QGM.
Tickets for Troops was set up to give free tickets to members of the Armed forces for big football matches, rugby games, horse racing and theatre performances. So far over 40,000 troops have signed up and more than 70,000 tickets have been distributed.
