One of my all- time favourite movies, starring Nicholas Hope. There are many, many shocking aspects to this film. One of the more bizarre moments occurs when "some old English guy" ( for reasons unclear) takes our boy Bubby into to the turbine hall of an Electric Power Station and delivers this amazing soliloquy on the concept of "GOD";....-it is a powerful argument in favour of atheism, in my view.

  • Why "weird monologue"? On the contrary, the pretentions of reigning metaphysical beings and mass brainwashing is weird. This is a perfectly humanistic statement. Anyway thanks for uploading this.

  • @SimulacronX A good point well made, I suppose I meant the way the monologue is presented within the context of movie is weird, rather than the monologue per se. I'll change it, thanks for the very constructive comment. Fair play to you.

  • Powerful scene this, confronting and convincing! Best aussie movie ever.

  • @jigbuilda Lets not forget "Romper Stomper" in the pantheon of Aussie movie perfection!

  • ok i uploaded it anyway. sorry dude.

  • While it's a good point, to me it feels pretentious to use a point like this--that's been stated way more articulately by many philosophers--and to condense it into one bite-size monologue.

  • That old guy is GOD and the power station is HEAVEN. We had being told it is beautiful but it isnt. It is what it is. This kind of movies can be only watch for smart people. Any other would understand this out of context.

  • RAMEN!

  • I love how absurdly and mind blowingly philosophic this scene is, and perfect for the timing in the movie. bubby's world in that dank room with the cross on the wall is just replaced by a dank world with a bigger cross on the wall of the church being dismantled, that scene was symbolic too. all in all this movie made me have an insane philosophical breakthrough I have a hard time putting into words.

  • you be still God

  • Why does that guy even bother to talk to Bubby like he will understand him he is retarded LOL

  • @incongra Oh, you are kind. I appreciate. Best, S.
