The monkey sitting on my kitchen window sill belong to Macaque type, known as long tailed Macaque. It wants to barge in and have its breakfast if not a feast! It is able to see me through the window and not unduly disturbed by my knocks on the window glass pane. Disturbed by my repeated knocks, it jumped on to the sun shade below and surveying the next suitable target where unwary inmates left the kitchen window open! Send your best wishes...!
Macaques are considered to be the second most-widespread species in the world, after humans. Their range stretches on from northern Africa to Asia. Macaques comprise of 22 species in toto, out of which seven can be found in India also. Since a number of macaque species lack tails, they are also known as apes. Various species of the Indian macaque are used for experimental purposes.
