Damn German-made tables and other products. They last forever and are often bomb-proof. Luckily, their obsessiveness for quality and craftsmanship during the war eventually worked against them (e.g., over built and designed German tanks, etc. )--they couldn't match the allies in volume of weapons, etc. Ironic.

About 40 well documented attempts at Hitler's life without success meant only one thing: the vast majority of the Germans were protecting him. From individuals, to small resistance groups, to a few high ranking officers like Stauffenberg failing to kill him said more about the general German psyche than any thing else. Contrast that with the more pragmatic Italians: they had no problem turning against El Duce, sensing the tide had turned...saving 10's of thousands of Italian lives.
