Following the escalation of armed conflict at Cambodia-Thai border in recent weeks, about 100 protesters mainly from the Montreal area, has responded to the call by different leaders of community, i.e. Fondations des Etudiants Khmers, Fédération des Associations des Khmers Kroms, Fédérations des Jeunes Khmers Krom, Asssociation des Boudhist Thepsodaram ( Wat Poirier), Alliance des Profesionnels Cambodgiens du Québec and the Congress of the Cambodians in Canada this Friday, February 18th, 2011 to protest in front of the Canadian Parliament Hill and at the Thai Embassy in Ottawa.

These Cambodians from all different backgrounds and professions have expressed their deep sense of patriotism and unwavering commitment to their homeland, despite the cold and their daily concerns, came to condemn vigorously the use by the Thai army of cluster bombs and poisoning gas against innocent civilians in Cambodia, in spite of its prohibition by the international community.

Considering the urgency of the situation, Cambodians residing in Canada, launched an urgent appeal to the international community, the Parliament and the Canadian Government who love peace and justice to exert pressure on the Thai Government to:

(1) Immediately cease all acts of assault causing a serious damage to the Temple of Preah Vihear, listed in 2008 by UNESCO as World Heritage;
(2) Enforce the Judgement by the International Court of Justice and the recent resolution of the Security Council requesting a (tripartite) intervention of ASEAN in the restoration of sustainable peace;
(3) Comply with global standards on prohibited weapons.

The Community of Cambodians in Canada also wishes to support all initiatives of the Government of Cambodia to use all legal means including the request for the International Peacekeeping Force on the ground and the use of various world institutions especially the UN, ASEAN, UNESCO and the International Court of Justice to force Thailand to abandon its expansionist ambitions and choose the peaceful coexistence between the two peoples.

The event that began in front of the Parliament Hill around 11: 00 AM, then continued to the Thai Embassy until 2: 30 PM, after which a letter of protest to the Thai Government has been delivered to the Thai Embassy by one of our Cambodian Congress of Canada representative.

The demonstrators finally dispersed and left Ottawa with pride in an atmosphere of a patriotic mission well accomplished, especially at this time of crisis and a renewed national solidarity.

Even in Holocaust 60 million Jews died they said nothing about the issue. Israel should sue the Nazis for such act not fare.They should not keep quiet but apologize Israel.
