Mrs. Nan Trammell Herring. is a 1929 Furman alumna who first introduced the song "Brown Eyes" to the university, a song that has become one of Furman's most beloved traditions. She spent her life on the mission field in China, where she worked alongside her husband, the late Reverend J. Alex Herring, who is also a 1929 Furman alumnus.
