  • All these moves assume you have achieved underhook and are on your side. I seem to find my self flattened and can't get the underhook because my opponent is laying on top of me. Where can I find options for that position?

  • @captainzorikh You should focus on getting on your side and not being flat on you back before anything then. If you do not, your half guard game will definitely suffer.

  • Awesome, most of the techniques are pretty much self explanatory as well which is even better I'm making a note right now to drill that calf slicer and kimura tonight

  • @captainzorikh Don't let them get your back to the mat to start :) Seriously though, for me at least, the first thing I do when I land in half guard is deny the cross face by going thumb in with my top-side hand into the opposite lapel, then blocking the arm. This helps to keep distance by building a strong frame. From there, you can start to work for the underhook and using all of the GREAT positions Mr. Scully is outlining in the vid! Good luck! OSSS!

  • @jasculs I guess that's the whole trick, then. What do I need to learn to help me get on my side when my opponent is keeping me pinned, flat on my back, with no room to turn over or squeeze in a leg under the belly or get the underhook?
