An interesting design indeed. The speed is fairly fast more gearing prehaps?
What about current limiting the weapon? You will get less crush but would save the motor/gearing.

The real issue appears to be that this bot is using an electric motor to power the crush, instead of hydraulics.

Very good. Face the blade the opposite way and have a weapon like IG-88 with faster motors, a rotating axe that could get underneath opponents and smash them from the bottom.
