That locomotive is Mid Michigan 3836. As others have said, this was shot along a railline between Alma and Saginaw, MI. The 3836, a former C&O GP38 (non Dash-2), operated on this line for years before going to the Michigan Shore railroad in Muskegon. It still wears this paint scheme, but features a Leslie S-3L horn instead of the S-5T featured here. The Alma-Saginaw line is still in service, too, with a different engine.

EMD GP38-2 by my guess, maybe a GP40/GP40-2. Not too sure, but its definitely a GP series. All the SD series had three axle trucks.
