http://badmonkeypedal.blogspot.com/ for more sound clips of this pedal.

This is a gear demo of a Digitech Bad Monkey overdrive guitar pedal. I've had this one for about 2 years I think and its just been bumped off my pedal board to make room for a few other overdrives so I figured that I would put it to good use and demo it for anyone looking for an incredible overdrive pedal on a budget price. I've had one guitarist tell me he thought it was a better pedal than a modded keeley ts9. I don't actually agree with that, but I do believe this is the best overdrive you can get for the price. I got it for $40 but I think the price has been bumped up to $50 now? Not sure exactly. It is still well worth that money.

I did a couple different settings and hopefully you can tell which knobs I changed. I used a modified fender squier strat with fender lace sensors and a seymour duncan hot rails pickup. I mainly used the neck lace sensor (blue) and the hot rails to give the difference between single coils and humbuckers. I really can't say enough good about this pedal.

  • are u using a mic on the amp?

  • @TheGuitarstation1 Nope, I'm plugged directly into a Line6 UX2 studio, which was running into my macbook running Pod Farm for amp modeling and Garageband for recording.

  • wat amp r u using? and is ther alot of gain in tap/?

  • @h3at32 I'm using an emulated amp (probably a Fender Bassman, but I can't remember exactly what model I used) in Pod Farm by way of a Line 6 UX2 studio. The emulated amp has no gain dialed in, as you can tell by the clean tones, so all the overdrive is straight from the Bad Monkey.

  • Duuuudeee.

You rock. What songs are you playing? Or scales?

I just wanna know how to play like that.

  • @xxIceManxx2011 I don't remember exactly, but most likely they are major scales or minor pentatonic. Check out my other videos to actually see me playing and you might get a better idea of what I typically like to play.

  • You sold it to me, I'm getting one with Christmas money.

  • @SkateSF10 hey man i just got one of these and id say depending on what sound you are trying to achieve will determine if you like this pedal. you wont get a 'metal' sound as such, its more of a rock or grunge sound. its very cool if you like that stuff. TS are the bench mark pedal, not much can beat them.

  • Could u use just a normal 9 volt AC power adapter for this???

  • Sounds great

  • witch is the rockiest/ metaliest setting? please show me xD

  • I know a bunch of people use tube screamers for Peavey Valvekings and i was wondering how the Bad Monkey would sound on it in comparison to the TS?

  • so do u think it will work on a line 6 spider iv cuz i need an overdrive pedal that works on solid state amps

  • @machogriz wtf

  • @NegmaDeath don't know if you're answered yet.

Metal is most of the time ceated with lesser mids and more high(gain)

Seventies rock is a lot more mids than High's.

More mids and less high get's you better trough the mix in my experience. Less distortion and more volume also

  • New to pedals here, in general what do mids do?
