I feel like crying after watching this video, I've had lymphedema in my legs for over 10 years, never heard of lymphatic massage before, my doctor told me there was nothing to be done about it. Why are doctors so ignorant?

@katzzam eh?

@sleepyeyes163 you must be young and stupid, that's ok, it's not your fault. good luck to you in your profession. If that does not work, try cosmetology.

@Bally2k10 there is amazonuk.com the DVD is about 1 1/2 hr. boring, but useful. You will fall asleep watching, so be prepared to learn small segments at a time.

Excellent. Thank you very much for sharing

That is exactly the type of ignorance that makes me very angry
Most with serious conditions cannot afford the cost of treatment that would help them, which can often run to £10 - £15,000+ per year. Without self-massage & good advice some are destined to become grossly swollen & disfigured, housebound & suffer from leg ulcers & serious infections
Good therapists are few & far between as many share the ignorant attitude you demonstrate, keeping useful information from patients

Those who have lymphoedema or lipoedema benefit greatly from treatment from a trained professional. It is also beneficial if patients do MLD on themselves each day but often it is not possible to adequately do the whole body without restricting the very areas you want to clear
Only those who are professionally qualified tend to get the results that are needed. Many who claim to do Lymphatic Drainage apply techniques that are either not useful or can make the swelling increase

@Bally2k10 It's on Amazon. Not sure if they ship to UK but worth a look.
massaging from the feet upward is key..I am self taught because my wife was diagnosed with severe lymphadeama and we couldn't afford to pay for proper treatment..so I downloaded anatomical diagrams and learned to massage in the direction of the closest lymph drainage areas for all parts of the body..AND ITS WORKED!..her swelling is kept to a minimum, as is her fluid retention, and especially her pain..most successful pain relief points are the soles of her feet in regards to reflexology charts..

@sleepyeyes163
In your case you can be forgiven for being so young & perhaps not knowing better. But there are many mature professionals around that do not give useful information to clients because they think it will do them out of a job
This is a limited, ignorant & inaccurate attitude of mind, which leaves many people not knowing how best to manage their condition - sometimes suffering a lot in the process
I would hope that you would aspire to have more integrity than that
