'Global economy' is a modern Orwellian term. On the surface, it is instant financial trading, mobile phones, McDonald's, Starbucks, holidays booked on the net. Beneath this gloss, it is the globalisation of poverty, a world where most human beings never make a phone call and live on less than two dollars a day, where 6,000 children die every day from diarrhea because most have no access to clean water.

@teddythebenny Well, that's what this thread was supposed to be about, but yes, if you prefer, we can take it to PM.

@teddythebenny I would think a secure border would be Top Priority for "security" of any kind, since in the most recent intercept--literally a TRUCKLOAD of illegals--not all the illegals were coming from Latin America, some from China, and even some from terrorist countries!
As to the "Sovereignty", my point was that Mexico keeps demanding WE respect THEIRS--and even help them keep out "undesirables" from THEIR south--but wants the "right" to dump unlimited amounts on us!

@EPGAH we can essentially, argue about the finer points of government policy, against legal realities.. and therein, clog this page. Or we can talk outside. I apologize to anyone who views these incessant comments as annoying and troublesome.

@teddythebenny War's only a temporary fix: Eventually the soldiers come HOME, and need their jobs back, or at least jobs.
That is why Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower somehow managed to deport all or nearly all the illegals even with their primitive tech (That, and the media didn't tell them "There's too many, you can't deport them all", so they went and did it, not knowing it was impossible)
Illegals out, Americans in!

@EPGAH In south America, many politicians view the US as both an ally and a threat. As it controls the World Bank, IMF and other global institutions, put it this way, it has veto in them, and owns the largest share. With Capital hill, supporting the CIA, which has stated in the past that it will use any force necessary to ensure the national security agenda is met, meaning regardless of human right or legalities. Sovereignty therefore is a political ploy as well as a legal one.

@teddythebenny The housing loans were another form of "Social Justice" Welfare, Clinton promoted the CRA--which had ALWAYS been around, but largely ignored--to THE most important law in the loan industry! Banks were pressured to make INCREDIBLY stupid loans. Because they were Only Following Orders, they demanded a bailout for the risks!
It was a horrible Object Lesson: Everyone WANTS a house, but not everyone DESERVES one.

@teddythebenny You overlooked a big facet, though: America's Government pays out a lot more in SERVICES, from welfare to country-clubs for criminals ("Prisons")
Also, it's better for the economy to have more jobs than people than the reverse.
Our WORKING population may be shrinking, but the population in toto is GROWING. America's population DOUBLED in about 20 years!
More people=lower wages and higher prices=shit QOL for EVERYONE!

@EPGAH Thin line between Executive Order and Royal Edict
- the British Queen, has more power then parliament or the courts, if she uses the Order in council prerogative. Used it on 5/11/1965, Chagos Archipelago, illegally removing the population, for it to be leased to the US for a military base.
what you believe in is up to you, but any power wishing to remain a power in the future, must assure it by any means necessary.

@EPGAH The US had double digit, unemployment from the depression till the outbreak of the WW2 in the pacific. There is no quick fix. Judging from the fact, that in the past recessions, people were able to move to more economically productive areas, now however, it is not possible, because of the housing loans. All developed nations are having problems with demographics, baby boomers are aging, and the working pop is shrinking, thus who pays the taxes, i.e pensions? .. that is a fact of life now
