Industry Minister Tony Clement appeared on CTV's Powerplay March 3, 2010 to discuss the Government's digital economy strategy and copyright reform which were announced earlier in the day in the Speech from the Throne. Clement's commentary on canadian copyright policy is both refreshing and encouraging when compared to that of his predecessors.

  • Our government should implement into the copyright act that the manufacturer who installs copy protection onto DVD'S and CD'S and any other Video&Audio format be prohibited and fines put into place that prevents back up to computer formats and to a DVD and VHS Recorder.

  • Anyone who isn't getting paid for their opinion knows that a new copyright law is going to turn into pure American DMCA-style garbage. Copyright is a very grey area where both sides have to make concessions or it doesn't work.

  • To create more jobs, they must find a way to get rid of user-generated content. What better way to do so then to introduce ACTA to this country.
