Here we are on the East Side of Manhattan. More specifically, the very east end of 51st Street. We are in a small park wedged between the FDR Drive and the East River. If you walk to the end of 51st Street, you come up on a park called Peter Detmold Park. There are two sections in the park; the dog walking part and the portion I am in. It is mostly unknown, except to those that live in the vicinity or who care to take the time to look for the park. Anyway, we start off by looking at all the northbound traffic on the FDR Drive. It's rush hour, and there are a lot of cars. Then, we turn our attention to a boat on the East River, as it comes under the Queensboro Bridge and past my camera. In the background is Roosevelt Island. The boat is named the "Patrick Sky" and it looks like it is some kind of oil containing vessel. The last things we see are the Pepsi Cola sign and the old abandoned Renwick small pox hospital on Roosevelt Island. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on March 12th, 2009.

  • This is the tanker Patrick Sky, based out of Port Chester, NY headed light boat to the terminals of NJ tp pick up a load of 5000 barrels of home heating oil or diesel. She keeps over 40 trucks off the road. She is one of the last single hull tankers working. When she's gone, there will likely be no more ever built.

  • The hospital is actually a former smallpox hospital. The former mental hospital is at the island's North end. The smallpox hospital was designed by James Renwick who is the architect who designed St Patrick's Cathedral as well.
