For now, until we get an all electric car going on mass produce, stop whining. Look, other countries have gas prices at $8+ a gallon. What did they do, STOP DRIVING OR DRIVE LESS. Until you cannot pay for groceries and your home stop whining. Or even if you can't, you must have some luxuries that if sold could get you the money you need to survive. You don't need a tv, laptop, new cell phone,etc. Until you get rid of all the luxuries other countries DREAM of, DON'T YOU DARE WHINE!

u americans get it like 60 cents a litre.
in australia we pay 60 cents a litre tax.
its 8-9 buks a gallon in aus.

okay i think we need to cut goverment spendings which is making gas so high. since 2004, when democrats took over congress taxes have been going up. now, gas people need to make money so they are forced to raise them because goverment probably takes 50 percen of their money. Now, what has the goverment done with our money! They give it to lazy hobos because they want them to vote for the democrats!

the problem you have is your society is built on oil but as its a fossil fuel that means your society is doomed , this isnt good news but its reality .
basically you would need to change the entire design of america (watch the end of suburbia for a idea of your problem )
you need to go back to walkable towns and producing food and goods locally .
that way you could live with very little resource and energy consumption .
best of luck it will be hard but possible

We are screwed on gas. The more we mine anywhere (Texas Alaska etc) the more OPEC undercuts us. There is basically one solution if things get to bad. Government sanctions and a force removal of gas to some other source of fuel. Basically what Argentina did 20 years ago.
