@MetalicaFan2007 You're correct in saying the first people to come here were trying to escape the Church of England, however those people who came over were not atheists, they were simply not Anglican. And early America was extremely religious, in Delaware you had to proclaim faith in God in order to hold public office, in Alabama the legislature dealt with every divorce in the state, and the founders were almost all Christian and many of them very publicly practiced their religion.

@tmmy000 considering that what u said is false the founding father almost all of them were free masons what you said is a common misconception that could be cleared with a simple google search this country was founded based on religious freedom since we all came to this country trying to get away from the church to begin with and i guess they followed us here

@Dissilience Most of America's founders were Christians, many of them wanting to wear their faiths on their sleeves but a small minority were deists and atheists and for some reason they are the ones that are singled out. The idea that America wasn't religious from the founding is a complete fallacy.
