I love my old 30/30 Marlin, but I never used it. I kept overlooking it for my 30-06 bolt action for the added distance and accuracy . But this new ammunition really has given my old gun a new life.
I just got off the phone with Marlin, apparently you need a specific follower to use the revolutions in your marlin 336s. This would have been nice to know before these rounds jammed in my magazine causing the carrier to jam and the lever to seize up. i ended up having to take the tube apart to get the stuck ammo out and seize the weapon. Not cool. Call Marlin and they will send you the follower.
@bigpike08 yeah, they're pointless unless u hav a marlin cus the Win94's have iron sights, and 250 yards with an iron sight, you better be a damn good shot at a 100-150 lb 3 ft tall animal. I'll stick with Core-Lokt.
According to the ballistics, the pointed tip allows the round to cut the air smoother and retain more speed and energy than the flat tip bullet. I once talked with guy who reloaded his own ammo. He was already using pointed (spitzer) tip bullets years ago in his 30-30. BUT, he could only have one in the chamber, and one in the tube magazine at a time. He said it gave him good knock down out to 300 yards. Now the Hornady will allow several in the tube magazine.
150 or 170 Powerpoint will do just fine ... for less money.
To be honnest, I believe the hit of a powerpoint (flatnose) is deadlier because the bullet opens up on contact while the hornady needs more penetration to start the damage. And at 200 yards, lets be honnest, a .30-30 is not the ideal caliber.
Than again, I only dream of 200-250 yards shots... in real life... 100 yards ...
yeah... I bought 3 boxes of this for my new 336C.35 Marlin. The action would not close. I could not chamber the round. I found out from Hornady that it was made out of spec. They returned my 3 boxes of ammo that I had sent back to them but they did not even send me an extra box for all of my trouble. The question now is... will the next box I buy have the same problem because they did not pull the bad ammo from the retail store shelves?
for those of you who reload im wondering what your best loads are, would you please pm me or something and tell me wich load youve had best success in, im new to reloading and i need to know what powder and bullet i should use,
@EpicWin0CriticalFail Cabellas got ther own scope with recticle lines for yardage for leverevolution ammo. there cheap. probably cheap and nasty.

Can't wait to get a reloading kit! Hornady's 325gr FTX at max pressure ought to make some serious moose medicine!
