let his back legs touch the ground, that way he is working out his head muscles and back leg muscles. All he is doing write now is training his hold, i dont know why you would want him to be good at hold.

Thats way too high. One of the dogs could seriously injure its self from falling that high if it landed awkwardly on a limb or on its neck.
