This train gave me NO warning! No defect detectors going off, no static, no words on the scanner. By pure luck, I looked down the tracks and saw a bright headlight quickly approaching!

This was NS S23, second section of NS 823. Two consecutively numbered ES44ACs, 8085 and 8086 (no LED numberboards), lead a long train at about 50 miles per hour through Wakefield. Awesome K5HLL horn that sounded really cool! This train was extremely loud as he roared through the switch.

I have to admit, I find it a bit strange that NS runs second sections of loaded and empty coal trains at all, given the fact that the regular sections run as needed as it is. This is the second "S" train I have caught to my knowledge on NS. Here is the video of another one:
