Amtrak's Heartland Flyer (Trains 821/822) normally terminates in Fort Worth, Texas; however, on special occasions they have run through to Dallas, the Texas-OU football games being one of those events. The Flyer runs through to Dallas, the Friday before the game, to take the fans into Dallas and it goes back to Dallas, the Sunday following the game, to pick up the fans and take them back to Oklahoma. This video shows the Flyer departing Fort Worths Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) on its run to Dallas on 18 October 2009. The Flyer made both its trips to Dallas over the Trinity Rail Express DFW Subdivision, a route Amtrak does not normally use. The audio you hear in the background is Amtraks southbound Texas Eagle backing into the ITC after its run from Dallas over Amtraks normal Union Pacific route. One interesting thing about the rails out of the ITC toward Dallas is the fact they go through a hole cut in the old Alarm Supply Building.
I remember as a kid the TRE tracks were the Rock Island. We rode the Rock from FTW to Dallas when I was in Cub Scouts.
