What a lovely induction speech. It's so obvious how much Gary Carter loved baseball, the Lord and his family. A classy guy ... always! As a long-time Expos fan Gary Carter will always be our #1 man. Rest in Peace ... you left all of us far too soon.

I love how at 4:19 Carlton Fisk gives Gary Carter the "stank eye" for giving so much respect to Johnny Bench and not mentioning him. Hahaha. Ok, so maybe Fisk wasn't giving the stank eye but it makes for a good story.

Most don't realize the amount of inspiration Gary spead to others over his lifetime. I'm one of those he inspired at age 23 in 1989. I had 35,000 baseball cards that I had accumulated as a collector that I didn't know what to do with. While price guides told us to give them to other collectors, I thought there was a better idea. Then I was inspired by Gary's charity work with the Leukemia Society & I donated up to 100,000 cards every year to present. His inspiration may be missed more than all.

His speech was one of a kind. From a fan point of view, Gary Carter was a classy player and a true represntative of what a team player is, and what a family man should be. I know Jesus was very proud of his life. People like Gary Carter are an inspiration to others and allows them to make changes in their lives for the best. Rest in Peace. I will see you one day in Glory.
