I'm a Texan by birth so naturally I love Texas but this hang em' high attitude is so old and needs to go. That's what I believe is at the root of this problem.
F*** the Texas laws. i love texas, but i battled with the police and their racial profiling the entire 3 yrs i stayed there. one of those battles ended with me accepting deferred adjudication. I couldn've fought it, but it was a class c misdemeanor and the court said they woudlnt give me a lawyer. didnt have $ to get one. i've had hell finding a job since i moved out of state 2 months ago, so im wondering if this is why.
I had a pre-trial date on Aug. 18th. The prosecutor was selling the ideal of taking the deferred adjudication. Instead, I was like "HELL WITH THE PROSECUTOR" and requested a bench trial.
@nishaswirl I entered my deferred adjudicaiton on Dec 17 2010, and I was told that I have to wait to years before I can get it expunged from my record... which makes me wonder if it will ever get taken off. I had a Class B Misdemeanor and when I went to court it was reduced to a Class C.... instead because I was a first time offender for something stupid. I fucking hate Police officers. Just because I didn't have ID with me one night, and didn't want to speak with police they gave me a hell.
After the five years, we are finding out that the motion of non-disclosure does not work either, the attorney's don't know what would happen if a criminal backgound was run after the motion of non disclosure is filed, does any body know? my e-mail is aurorarobie@yahoo.com
Their are 2 million people that the goverment lied to, now the question is what are we going to do about it? This people could be working and paying taxies, instead of going to attorney's and judge's that lied to you.
What can we do about this? Besides ask for money and more money, we have spend gobbs of money because of this, now they wanted to file a motion of non disclosure, except this time we asked allot of questions, and what was bad about this was that when they would run a criminal check, they did not know what would show up, like they told us "it will show up on your criminal records as deferred and not a convition" Texas Department Of Criminal and other state agencies treat it as a conviction?

Question:
If you have a Deferred Adjudication in Texas (successfully completed) do other states treat it as a conviction?
